Vegetable Garden

The vegetable garden is to the east of the house and is bordered by yew hedges.

Raised beds give an early and late season for growing and an easy system for managing crop rotation.

In a fruit cage there are red, white and black currants and autumn rasberries. Two espaliered pears climb on a frame between the cage and barn.

The space is limited so we grow vegetables that we find difficult to buy or must be eaten the moment they are picked like sweetcorn.

The vegetable garden terrace is overhung by the roses Francis E Lester and Hamburger Phoenix.
